A member asked:

I took an mri of my left shoulder. but i am having pain, throbbing and burning in left upper arm. will that show on an mri of my left shoulder?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe/not: Pain originates from nerve fibers. An MRI detects structural abnormalities. Unless they detect some structural abnormality that would affect the nerves, this may not detect anything at all. There are conditions where viral infections can trigger localized nerve inflammation. Inflammatory neuritis is a label commonly used for this. You need to discuss this with your primary doc.
