YES & YES: Herpes simplex, both oral and genital, are among the few rashes that HURT. Although most cases of Herpes occur around the lips (cold sores) and in the genital area, they can break out anywhere that there is a significant exposure and limited protection. Inflamed, chafed or irritated skin can be targets. However, since Herpes is less common on normal skin, see your doctor for confirmation.
