Enema: Why is it being taken? why do you ask if its safe since it is sold to general public without prescription? If you have significant constipation and impaction, it may help. However, since we don't know anything about your medical history or why you are considering it, you are encouraged to seek advise of your personal physician.

Enemas: safe?: Any time the body cavity is entered, it can be potentially hermful. Other methods for relief of constipation are effective and in most cases work well, such as citrate of magnesium , bought "over the counter" in a pharmacy. If constipation persists, consult a healthcare provider for advice as to diet and hydration. Other testing may also be necessary.

"Fleet": Small volume enemas (example Fleet enema (sodium bisphosphate)) are generally very safe. If you READ THE DIRECTIONS TWICE and so it correctly you shouldn't need a second. If more than one Fleet enema (sodium bisphosphate) is required look for other reasons for your constipation.Since some of these reasons can be serious see you Primary Care Provider Hope this helps Dr Z
