High liver enzymes: ALT &AST are liver enzymes also found in muscle. High ESR can occur for a very large # of reasons, including obesity. Autoimmune liver disease (antibodies against liver) & polymyositis (muscle disease) can raise liver enzymes & ESR, but are uncommon.Meds (including acetaminophen/paracetamol),thyroid disease,hemochromatosis,alcohol,temporary unexplained rise...list is long.Advise followup with doc.

More testing: more testing may be needed. 2 most common causes of elevated liver test are alcohol consumption and diabetes. if you drink, you should stop completely. If you have or are at risk for diabetes, you should dramatically improve your diet. If your liver test return to normal after this, a lot less testing will be needed. Continue to follow-up with your doctor. The answers you seek take time & F/U.
