3 types: An anoscope is a short clear plastic tube that just goes a few inches into the rectum and lets us look for hemorrhoids and lesions near the anus. A sigmoidoscope is a longer tube that can reach the first part of the colon. An endoscope is used to do a colonoscopy and it can reach the length of the entire colon.
