Clotted hemorrhoid: Hemorrhoids are a common problem, which result from increased pressure in the veins of the anus causing the veins to swell. If the hemorrhoid clots, also known as thrombosis, there can be significant pain. Immediate treatment is directed at getting the clot to resolve with moist heat or may require opening it, to evacuate the clot. Long-term, the goal is treat the underlying cause of hemorrhoids
