Unusual: It is unusual for a fibroid that size and in that location to cause pain unless it is growing rapidly and out growing its blood supply which can happen in pregnancy and it would usually cause pain on the side where it is located. This is not to say it isn't possible,but I'd suggest being sure there isn't another cause for the pain before deciding it is due to the fibroid.

Yes: Subserosal fibroids cause bulk-related symptoms by pressing on adjacent structures. Those in the front of the uterus often cause increased urinary frequency, those on the sides press on pelvic nerves to cause pelvic pain, those in back, lower back pain, even constipation. While dominant fibroids on one side will often cause pain on that side, pain can be felt on opposite side as well.
