Thumb injury: You will need an x-ray and medical evaluation to detect any fracture or soft tissue injury requiring surgery or immobilization for optimal healing.

Not normal, see Dr!: as with any trauma, it's good to have your thumb examined and possibly imaged by MRI to check for soft tissue injury. If you've already had the x-ray to rule out fractures, this would be the next step. Also you should get a second opinion from a neuromusculoskeletal medicine (NMM) doctor, who's a DO. Have s/he evaluate and treat you. Realign your thumb so it feels normal again.
