My right ear feels like its swelled and hurts and almost seems to pop when i swallow. the whole of the right side of my throat hurts, what is this?

There is a tube from the back of the mouth that goes to the ear the Eustachian tube, that is irritated with throat infections and causes the popping ( it helps equalize pressure when descending in airplanes too which is why our ears pop then)
