He is correct: Indications for the use of systemic antibiotics in dentistry are very limited, since most dental and gum diseases are best managed by dental intervention and oral hygiene measures. Antibiotic prescribing by dentists may play a major role in the resistant bacterial strains, particularly when there is evidence of misuse.
