A member asked:

I am taking amitriptyline for facial nerve pain but this is of no use & taking amitriptyline for last 2 weeks. i pain in right eye, cheek & forehead.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Facial Pain: The most important determinant of success in pain treatment is identifying the cause of the pain. You have not told us what has been done to investigate your facial pain and what you have been diagnosed with. Amitriptyline is an antidepressant not an analgesic or an anticonvulsant such as gabapentine to treat nerve pain. You need a diagnosis after a complete workup including imaging.
