I have been experiencing severe headaches and was given elavil to see if it wold help me. i have recently started having stabbing pain behind my left eye and it is getting increasingly worse. i also have a stabbing sensation in my cheek bone?

More symptoms?: The medicine elavil (amitriptyline) is helpful for preventing several types of headaches. You should not expect the medicine would cause stabbing pain behind your eye or in your cheek. Are these on the same side? It would help to know if you had any evaluation or tests for your headache, there are some causes that elavil (amitriptyline) cannot treat.
