Possibilities: Richter's hernia is when part of the intestine is within the hernia defect. Reducible hernia means that something is protruding through the hernia, but that it can be pushed back in so that it is no longer protruding. Recurrent hernia refers to a hernia that was previously fixed, but now has returned. These are the most frequent "R" hernias.

No "R": The most common type of hernia is a groin hernia, known as an inguinal hernia. These can be direct, indirect, & femoral. They are on the left or right, so maybe the R was for a right inguinal hernia. Also can have umbilical, epigastric, Spigelian, lumbar, and hiatal hernias. Hope this helps!

Hernia: Well, there are a lot of different types of hernias, but one that starts with an R? Richter's is the only one I can think of. Other types include indirect/direct inguinal hernias, femoral, obturator, pantaloon, Spigelian, Grynfelt hernias.
