Possible infection: Regardless of how well the area was prepped before your lip was pierced there is always the possibility of a subsequent infection. There are significant germs on the inside as well as the outside of the lip. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water every hour while awake for the next 24 hours. If it doesn't improve get a consult with your primary physician or an urgent care. Good luck.
