Tattoo: Where are you getting the tattoo placed? What part of the ear is infected? If there's a chance that there are bacteria from the infection in the bloodstream, might be advisable to wait until the infection is treated.

Tattoos: The United States food and drug administration (fda) does not regulate tattoos leaving the burden of tattoo safety and regulations up to individual cities and states. Some of the risks that come with getting a tattoo are infection at the site of the tattoo, allergic reaction to the tattoo dye, the spread of disease such as HIV and hepatitis c, granulomas and keloid formation. No tattoos!

Only if resolved: Outer ear infections can be bacteria or fungus trapped on the skin in the ear canal causing a local skin infection. If there is an infection, i would want to treat it appropriately before disrupting the skin anywhere nearby (such as a tattoo) -- as that could be infected as well if there is local spread. It is unlikely to happen but it is better to be safe than sorry.
