what to do if my 30 month grandson has dry skin and get itchy. we apply aquaphor and alclometasone dipropionatas as advised?

Minimize bathing: One important thing to try is minimizing his bathing to every three days or so. Be careful about using the stronger steroid on thinner skin. The groin and face you should use a weaker cortisone 1% otc. Also use a scent free soap like dove scent free. Good luck!

If he's really uncomfortable, his parents may wish to seek referral to a dermatologist. Cetafil Lotion is a product that replaces bathing with soap & water. If you use Eucerin cream or any other emollient, apply it while his skin is still moist after a bath. I agree with minimizing use of steroids. Cut & smooth his nails to prevent staphylococcal infection in broken skin.
