I'm 34 wks pregnant with sharp, stabbing pains in my vagina. i've been urinating more frequently (but no burning). could this be uti? dilation?

Yes: You could have the urinary frequency just because you have less room for your bladder at this stage of pregnancy but it can also be the only symptom of a urinary tract infection. You need to have a urinalysis to know for sure. This is important because a UTI can cause premature labor. Good luck.
