Prove cause: Hi. Your physician needs to demonstrate high cortisol levels (usually done with 24 hour urine or non-suppressability with dexamethasone). Proving high cortisol is due to stress and anxiety is tough. We look for tumors as the cause (pituitary, adrenal, or cancer, usually lung). There are cases of pseudo-Cushing's, where a patient appears Cushingoid, but doesn't have one of these tumors.

Stress and cortisol: The disorder where serum cortisol is elevated is called Cushing's Syndrome and can be due to pituitary tumors, adrenal tumors, using oral steroids (eg. prednisone). Generally we treat the underlying causes of Cushing's syndrome. Have you actually had your cortisol level tested, or are speculating because you're stressed/anxious? If so, there are no specific meds except to treat your anxiety.
