A member asked:

Is it possible to have false positives for chromogranin a , vasoactive instestional peptides, 5-hiaa? all these test have been high than others normal

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No test is perfect: Hi. In medicine, we rely heavily on objective data, but no test is perfect. The fact that your Cg A, VIP, and 5-HIAA are ALL high lends credence to the hypothesis you have a neuroendocrine tumor in the carcinoid/VIPoma category. I trust you are being seen by a physician experienced in endocrine tumor syndromes, or will soon be referred to one. Mayo Clinic is great for that. Others too. Good luck!
