It is fungal: The area was infested by a fungus which produced the dark pigment (melanin) and served as a sunblock. When you removed the fungus with Nizoral, (ketoconazole) the area underneath would look pale due to lack of sun exposure .This is called tinea versicolor.

A 21-year-old member asked:

Maybe ringworm: A round scaly sore on the skin can be ringworm, which is caused by a fungus, and the rash is called tinea corporis. Eczema rashes and psoriasis rashes can also cause a round scaly sore and look like ringworm. A primary care doctor or dermatologist (skin doctor) can evaluate to make a diagnosis, and then give details on treatment.

Is it common to have a sore arm after donating blood a month ago?

No: If you donated blood a month ago, you should not be having pain. This would most likely be from phlebitis or irritation to the vein. I would have someone take a look at this or call the facility that drew the blood.

How can I avoid putting pressure on my arm and prevent breast lymphedema?

General care: Lymphedema of the arm is seen following breast procedures (axillary dissection, radiation), and avoiding putting pressure on the arm doesn't prevent the swelling. Avoid scratches, injury of the arm that can result in infection and further damage of the lymphatics. Seek help of a lymphedema trained physical therapist for specific advice.

Pinched nerve: Pinched nerve at the wrist (carpal tunnel syndrome) is a common cause for such symptoms. However other causes of peripheral neuropathy should be considered and ruled out by history, physical exam and some blood tests. Diabetes, thyroid disease and some medications are common causes. I suggest you discuss with your pcp.

Carpal tunnel: Overuse and abuse r the most common cause at this age to cause the pain/ numbness. Try an ace wrap n also if u type a lot txt msging computer typing then cut that down. If no improvement then see ur doc.
