Yes: Assess the motion u have before implant surgery... U may have a little more after surgery or have some loss... An implant is basically a joint spacer... The surgeon may decompress the joint by removing additional bone from the base of the 1st toe to help increase motion but this can cause instability of the joint...I perform implant surgery but am very selective on who receives one...

NOT BAD: I would say the worst pain a few days following surgery is 5/10, controlled well with narcotic analgesics, and improving daily. Some people have no pain. I am surprised when patients have a lot-8-9/10-of pain. Ice and elevation is so important post-op. IF YOU SMOKE..STOP! I usually let hemi implant patients WB in a surgical shoe, but all doctors are different. It should be fine-good luck.
