Norm is >60 mL/min: GFR, glomerular filtration rate, measures creatinine, a waste product in the blood that comes from muscle activity. The kidneys normally remove creatinine from the blood. As kidney function slows down, creatinine level goes up.African Americans tend to have more muscle mass than other ethnicities, so the calculation of GFR is adjusted. Normal GFR is 60 mL/min or greater. Hope that helps
