Endoscopy: If you persistently have blood in stool, doctor will likely recommend lower and upper endoscopy. Hepatitis increases the risk of cirrhosis, which can cause varicose veins (which can bleed) in the lower esophagus. But that complication is one that usually takes years to develop, and is seldom seen as an isolated symptom.
