Abx vs steroids: Folliculitis,in general,is typically caused by bacteria proliferating into the hair follicles and causing redness, swelling, and sometimes pain.I personally would start with an antibiotic and if that did not help after 5-7 days then maybe try a steroid like your doctor did.Have to also consider that the infection may be caused by fungus or virus too.If the steroid makes it worse,it's likely fungal
