Maybe: It really depends on the cause. The two most common causes are biliary tract disease like gall stones and alcohol overuse. If the causes are addressed with surgery for gall stones or cessation/moderation of alcohol use, the chances are lower for recurrence. One third of all pancreatitis either has no known cause or is due to adverse reactions to drugs. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!
