Caution: It will take a few days or weeks to have a full effect on your blood pressure. Caution is recommended when taking lisinopril and triamterene since the combination might cause abnormally high potassium levels. Every case is unique and your doctor may have good reason to put you on this particular combination, but you may want to discuss the risks, benefits and alternatives with him/her. Cheers!

Hypertension: Triamterene/hctz should take effect within 24-48 hours to start bringing down your blood pressure. You should reach an optimal BP level in a week.
