A member asked:

My grandma has just started on solid foods (recovering from acute renal failure) and has black stools. gp said to wait to see. what should we do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Starvation stools: After a period of no oral intake your stools can have an abnormal color while reintroducing feeding. If your grandmother does not have pain or obvious blood in her stools, it is safe to observe for now and keep her doctor informed as things get better or if there is any change for the worse.
