Misnomer: Some people use these interchangeably, but they're not really the same thing. Permanent AF describes a condition where the doctor and patient have agreed not to pursue reestablishment of normal rhythm. Chronic AF is sometimes used to describe the above, but sometimes is used to describe someone who's had AF for a long time (even if they're in and out of AF).
