A member asked:

Are there any arteries that would be palpable along the lateral side of the back of the leg below the knee? what about veins?

Not usually: The popliteal artery and veins run in the depth of the popliteal fossa- behind the knee between the muscles and tendons. There are some anomalies where the vessels run a different pattern. The exam is easy.
