Yes: Jack, it sounds like you should. But in all honesty, I doubt it's the cause of your gaining 50 lbs.

Definitely NOT: without doctor's supervision, and definitely not suddenly. Your body gets used to having stress hormones blocked and sudden withdrawal gets you stressed. Otherwise, cannot say in your particular case; weight gain is not commonly associated with beta blockers but could be since it does commonly lower how much exercise people do.
