Provera (medroxyprogesterone) will: induce a period if you have built up sufficient lining of the uterus due to prior estrogen levels. Metformin will reduce the basic metabolic defect of PCOS which is insulin resistance. They don't jumpstart menses. Metformin needs to be taken long term and the dose gradually increased as tolerated to a optimum of 1000 mg twice/day. Check w/your doctor.
