A member asked:

How can you tell difference on ekg of a resting heart rate of 160 is svt or just sinus tach?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Several ways: First: resting HR is never 160. If HR is 160 at rest, it's SVT. Second: w carotid massage or valsalva: sinus slows, SVT breaks or blocks down. Third: IV Adenosine: same as #2. Narrow complex tach of 160 maybe SVT or atrial flutter.
