Time to see your doc: A minor shock should have no symptoms after a few hours. Persistent symptoms after three weeks indicates a significant injury or another problem. A more in depth medical history and physical examination are the best places to start.

See hand specialist: You should see a hand specialist as soon as possible for an evaluation. In the meantime, the arm should be elevated above the level of the heart in a sling and on 2-3 pillows when in bed. This could help the swelling.
