A member asked:

Is it extremely rare for a 29yr old male to have a heart attack?no history, non smoker and healthy weight.borderline high chol.recent norm cardiac w/u

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes it's rare: but there are people with inherited lipid abnormalities who can get early and severe arteriosclerosis. Your doctor should test more than your total cholesterol to re-assure you, and measure the good cholesterol (HDL), the bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides as well. Some people can get spasm of the coronary arteries, either from stimulant drugs like cocaine, or spontaneously. These are rare.
