Yes: Absolutely. The L5 nerve root, which makes up part of the sciatic nerve, runs right over the sacroiliac joint. So the inflamed SI joint can cause inflammation in the nerve and cause a "sciatica". There are other causes of sciatica as well, so I certainly would not hesitate to be seen.
