Visit primary care: I sorry to hear of your cousin's passing. Ovarian cancer sometimes does have familial basis but risk is usually higher if it occurs in close relatives like your mother or sisters. Your primary care provider can evaluate you and determine whether genetic testing may be indicated as well as evaluate your overall health. Schedule a visit soon. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

See your doctor: Where is this far away cousin, in US or some 3rd world country? If her diagnosis is accurate then at this young age it has to be genetic. You need to see the doctor and consider testing for BRCA gene or any other genes related to ovarian cancer.

Don,t be scared: My condolences on your cousins death. To allay your anxiety pay a visit to your doctor and inform the doctor of your family history. Discuss any symptoms and your fears. There are tumor markers that can also be used for diagnosis as well. Most importantly, relax and have fun
