A member asked:

Horrific back pain for years. washington doctors won't give out pain medication. what can i do to help with this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Back pain: Back pain may be from a variety of conditions. Most commonly, a ruptured disc causes impingement of the nerve root. Sacroiliac joint inflammation can mimic a herniated disc too. Try anti-inflammatory medication, ice, and stretching. If the pain persists for more than a week then seek attention with a neurosurgeon/neurologist to determine the cause of the back pain and formulate a treatment
