Complex: The half life is 6-7 hours. That means, when you're in steady state (after about a week) at 12 hours, your atenolol blood level has dropped to about 25-30% of the peak level. Understand that you may only need 50% of the peak dose to achieve the therapeutic effect (this is variable) so at 12 hours, you may still be getting full benefit. If the effect is inadequate at 12 hours, you may need 50 mg(?)
