Glycemic index: The glycemic index is not the be-all-end-all. Your body's reaction to complex foods is complex. A high GI food, when eaten as part of a whole (unprocessed) food diet and combined with other foods will not be so bad. Grapes contain sugar, and in excess will elevate blood sugar, but in moderation are ok. Better to eat fruit than drink fruit juice.

Diabetic Diet: Grapes and fruits are 'simple sugars,' as opposed to complex sugars (breads, pasta, rice, pastries, grain products), which require more breakdown into simple components once they are ingested. Bottom line, you must be checking your blood glucose regularly, keeping a log, and see an endocrinologist to insure you are maintaining your sugars within healthy limits. Too much sugar of any is bad.
