Yes, fairly safe.: 0.5mg is a low dose of a medicine with long enough of a half life to mostly taper itself. You should be fine, but could also wean by halving the pill and taking half for one week prior to stopping. I suggest taking an SSRI like Celexa, lexapro, Zoloft for panic disorder. Much safer than Xanax (alprazolam) as far as potential seizures.
