Cause: There are many causes of a swollen lip. If you believe this is an allergic reaction looks for other signs of swelling particularly the throat area. Also make sure his breathing is normal. Think of any particular cause and avoid further exposure. Follow up for any concerns.

Not unless tongue: swells or breathing or swallowing difficulty. Then get urgent care. A swollen lip could come from mild sensitivity to something touched or eaten, and some kids tend to chew or suck on their lips which can make it swell temporarily without showing a bite mark. Sometimes kids will get hives or angioedema from contact with cold or heat, a recent infection, or drug reaction. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may help.
