It's possible.: Could be twins. How much weight did you typically gain during the first trimester of your 5 other pregnancies? 2-4 pounds for women of average weight is recommended. Congratulations !: I cannot say in your particular case without some (very simple office based) tests and.... weight gain and thirst can be a sign of pregnancy associated diabetes. The baby(s) aren't going to be contributing that much to weight gain in 2 months, and reasonable would be about half what you mentioned (4 lb; doesn't change much with twins).

Neither nor: Weight gain in pregnancy is not correlated with the number on babies, e.g., the more weight gain the greater the likelihood of carrying twins. you may want to have your obstetrician check you for diabetes because of the thirst and the fact that you are expecting your sixth baby.
