Not usually: However you may consider increasing the dose of Zyrtec (cetirizine) to 4 x daily if you can tolerate it. Usually it is not the medication which has lost effectiveness but that your hives and angioedema are getting worse. Consult an allergist if increasing the dose of Zyrtec (cetirizine) failed.
