Excellent concern: Do to the unfortunate over use and inappropriate use of antibiotics, bacterial resistance is prevalent. Antibiotics should not be prescribed simply for the presence of fever alone. HOWEVER, it is occassionally acceptable to Rx antibiotics with particular patterns of fever (prolonged, increasing in degree with time, association with other physical findings such as pneumonia/bronchitis, etc.)
