A 41-year-old female asked:

how does atenelol still work for pressure if you smoke?

It just does.: Atenolol will lower your blood pressure despite your smoking. Realize that taking Aleve (naproxen) often (daily) can raise your blood pressure a bit, too. And stop smoking. Today.

One assumes: That's less than the usual starting dose, so if your doc prescribed it, one assumes they were taking your circumstances into consideration. That said, you've given us no reason why it wouldn't be ok, right?

A 41-year-old female asked:

I am on atenelol 25mg 2x per my cardiologist instructions, taking for pressure. I am reading online that this med might not be safe. Is this true?

Not true!: Atenolol's very safe and has been around > 30 years - it's not new or experimental . There are no surprises; we know everything about it. That said, remember ALL meds have potential for side effects, even aspirin. Water can cause "water intoxication" with seizures in some people. So you have to trust the judgement of your doctor who knows all about you. If you don't, change doctors.
