Inflammation in gut: The term inflammation is a general word for the process in which the body is reacting to something abnormal. Problems with the immune function, infections, malabsorption or food intolerances are some of the causes of inflammation in the bowel. Usually this is indicated by the presence of white blood cells and mucous in the stool. Blood tests are available to further confirm the presence of it.
