Sensitive throat: Perhabs you can learn to desensitize by gradually drinking room temperature and gradually working your way to cooler temperatures.

Another thought: Another thought is that spicy foods have a substance which can cause constriction and swelling of the airways and mucosal tissue. This may contribute to your symptoms. If you reduce the amount of chili peppers in the food, and mix it with yogurt, this will help to neutralize the effect on the airway.
