Maybe a reason: If there were side effects to the higher dose of trileptal, there would be a good reason to reduce the dose. Perhaps the plan is to make a change in your treatment. Your provider does not want to give you a hard time- it may be they are protecting you from some problems you had with the medicine. They may be able to explain this to you and it is alright to ask.
