A member asked:

What is the role of an anaesthetist?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Anaesthetis: To put you to sleep when you need to have surgery or a procedure that is either painful or anxiety provoking and it is important for you to lie still. In the US we also call them anesthesiologists. We also have certified nurse anesthetists who do the same job but under the supervision of anesthesiologists (who are physicians)
