Surgical treatment: An external hemorrhoid that hurts or persists is due to a blood clot in it. I would recommend seeing a surgeon and having it drained. If it persists despite that then surgical excision is the best next thing. Also it is important to avoid new ones by changing habits. www.drlugo.com
